What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is using certain different gage of needle by inserting into the acupoint (The acupoint is not just randomly selected, a lot of time the acupoint is on a major muscle, blood vessel and nerve pathway) to prevent and treat conditions.
How does it work?
The major function of acupuncture is boosting circulation, release muscle tension and calm spirit. When treating pain disorders, the muscle tension if is relieved, the tightness muscle and pain will be reduced, and when the circulation is improving, the local inflammatory factors will move away then pain reduced.
Another function calm spirit can help managing stress.
Does it hurt? Cause any damage?
Acupuncture needle is using very thin gage needle, it is not hollow in the center when compare to injection needle. So, it won’t be hurting, just like a little pinch. Because it is so small it won’t cause any physical damage or leave a hole after treatment.
